WELCOME TO THE SB20!

To all the SB20 community,

I’ve been re-elected as the Class president for another year and I am happy to share that we have exciting times to come! Let’s look at where the Class stands today.

Over 25 nations have participated in the SB20 World Championships 2025 in Singapore. 53 boats on the water – what an amazing achievement for Magnus and the SB20 Singapore team! An event to be remembered, big thanks to all the teams who made it to Singapore.

This would have not been possible without the support from ONE15 Marina and Devoti Sailing, our new Class builder, and all the partners in logistics and event management that have been involved in this event. I fully enjoyed it myself steering the boat in those tricky conditions!

During that week in Singapore we’ve witnessed some super competitive racing with both Olympic sailors and families racing in the same fleet, which really shows the spirit of our Class.

The SB20 Class has the accessibility and the inclusivity that allow sailors from different backgrounds to sail together. You don’t have to be heavy in weight, we have a clear weight limit in the Class, which makes it accessible to be on the water and to be competitive irrespectively of their body size.

This opens the Class to a larger sailing audience, including mixed and fully female teams. We see a great involvement with all-female teams racing competitively in the top of the fleet and we hope to continue developing in this direction.

We think that youth teams around the world will take part in the Class more and more, because it’s so accessible for them. We already see the numbers growing in this area. Youth teams are really competitive as well, they’ve done very well in the Worlds. You don’t have to be a professional sailing team to join the Class. So, I invite you to join and enjoy one-design racing at its best!

We are really looking forward to our next Worlds Championships in Hyéres, France in 2026 and in Torbay, UK in 2027. I expect us to be up to around 100 boats for those events with some more countries to take on the Class. It’s all looking very positive!

Once again, thank you all for your commitment and engagement in taking this Class one step further to a greater success.

SB20 Class president,

Scott Glanville
